Writing for Scary Monsters Magazine

I'm still writing my article Scary Monsters magazine. I'm told if I get it into the publisher on time that it will appear in the Fall issue. One more event to write and I'll be done. It'll be longer than the last article and that one was 9 pages long! There were some very good panels this year!

Monsterpalooza 2012!

Here I come Monsterplaooza 2012! I have requested a day off of work, my tickets will be waiting for me at the will-call door and I have my notepad, pen and camera at the ready. The event will take place April, 13th, 14th & 15th, at Burbank, California. I'll be writing for Scary Monsters magazine once again. Last year's article is featured in issue number 81 (on newsstands now at this writing). Of course I'm coving this event "pro bono" -well since I haven't been paid for my writing I guess I'm still an armature writer, so no "pro" in that "bono". I'm hoping that there will be free movie screenings this time around! I'm looking forward at meeting the guest and seeing all the cool stuff that the creature shops will be putting on display! I just wish I had the bucks to buy something cool! There will be lost to write about! Stay tuned!

No one is buying anything! I tried my hand at making monster related stuff and posted on this site. I also took the same items to craft shows. People like them one even took a picture, but will they make the effort to reach around and removed their wallets and shell out 6 bucks? Nope. The downturn is taking took long to recover and those with money are holding on to it dearly.

Amazon Wants Me Back!

I removed all pay-per-click ads from this site when Amazon canceled all California accounts when our Governor Brown signed a new tax law that would make it that all purchases made in California would be taxed. Amazon pulled all California affiliate accounts before the law took effect. Now the law has been removed and Amazon wants me back. They can kiss my Monstrous Butt! I had Amazon ads here for over two years and when they closed the account they took $20 to process the check so I ended up with $1.40! Aagain: Kiss my Monstrous Butt, Amazon! I'll find another way to make money!

Since Amazon has severed ties with all advertising affiliates in California, because they don't want to pay California sales tax, I've decided to pull all the ads here for all the affiliate programs that I entered. All programs don't payout unless you make $100. I've entered four programs and I've made about $29 -that I can't get. So screw them all! You know that I directed traffic directly or indirectly and they got free advertising from me. I'm done now! I'm done with Google Ad Sense, Sideshow Collectibles and any affiliate program that claimed to give me cash for ads! Nothing has made this site self-sustaining! Time for a better business model! More to come!

I went to Monsterpalooza and it was great! I met John Skershock there and it was agreed that we would stick to the plan: He would write about the floor activities and I would write about the panels and events. Looking at the conflicting event times I suggested that John take one while I took the other. He couldn’t leave the booth that he was watching. I sat through all the panels that I could in the three days. There was one event that would cost an extra $15 –forget that! It cost 8 bucks to park my car! I bought a couple of things and I met some very cool people. I’ll post pictures soon and I submitted my article to “Scary Monsters” magazine and I’m hoping that it will be published in the next issue. I took plenty of notes. I might share more details here that I didn’t cover in my article.
